Lisa Lindsey Kent
-Artist's Statement-

"Home"
Let us enter The House to new beginnings:
Doorways. Portals. The Way in. Access.
Doorways contain a 'threshold,'
That point 'which signifies crossing into a new world.
An opportunity for transformation

"Home" - as a concept, as an iconoclastic image, as a physical place - defines the remarkable art of Georgia artist Lisa Lindsey Kent.

Lisa's distinctive expressions encompass "Home" in all its meanings: Lisa creates art that expresses the rich, multi-faceted idea of Home in hand-made paper, paint, handmade textiles and on canvas or other surfaces. Her images join texture with color, drawing the viewer in for a very personal experience.

At the same time, she also enriches the environment of actual homes with her skills as a superb artisan of olde world finishing and faux painting techniques.

Her walls, cabinets, columns and other surfaces of homes throughout the South Eastern US amaze with their beauty, purity and rich, meticulous detail.

For the past three years, the State of Florida's Network of Youth and Family Services has recognized Lisa's beautiful images of homes. This art has particular relevance for the agency's mission to provide shelter to troubled, abused, or homeless children and families.

Since 2004, the Florida Network has commissioned Lisa to create forty- five original art works, focusing on the theme of Home. These coveted creations are awarded annually to deserving member agencies of the Florida Network.

Despite impressive commissions and multiple projects, Lisa also continues to create art as a weaver, fabric/textile designer, creator of original jewelry, and artisan of faux painting techniques.
